PFA Fans Player of the Month: Wayne Rooney
Wayne Rooney har kapret PFA Fans Player of the Month – ikke spesielt overraskende. Wazza har alltid vært viktig for United, og mange satt Rooney over Ronaldo. Ikke nødvendigvis med tanke på kvaliteter, men med tanke på viktigheten for laget. Denne sesongen har Rooney kunnet briljere mer med en spillestil med Rooney i fokus, sammenlignet med tidligere sesonger hvor Ronaldo har vært vårt framste angrepsvåpen. Dermed har det også blitt mer mål fra Scouseren.
I’ve never really scored that many goals from inside the six-yard box over the years but I’ve been working on that – and thankfully it’s starting to pay off. As a football fan, you like to see goals flying in from all over the place, but I’ve not really scored that many great goals. They’ve all been fairly similar! My favourite goal would be my second against Croatia at Euro 2004. I always like watching that goal.
Så langt har det blitt 22 mål, og 30-tallet er han absolutt kapabel til å nå.
Giggs har iallefall vært strålende fornøyd med Wazza denne sesongen, og mener han nærmer seg de aller beste i verden.
«He is getting nearer that group. You have seen it for England and for us on the bigger stages. That is what all the top players do. The best thing is that Wayne is still developing. He is 24 now but he is only going to get better. His appetite is strong and he is a great player to have in your team. Even if he is not playing well he still causes problems for the other team. That is a very rare quality.»

But if Wayne is not having the best of games, which is not very often, he never gives up. He believes he is going to create chances. He believes he will get them and he believes he is going to score goals. More often than not, he does.»

Sometimes you cannot do that but he has learnt to be patient. He has developed his game so that now he is a goalscorer as well as joining in with the overall play.
