Rio Ferdinand var en het kandidat til å bli kaptein når Capello tok over som sjef for England, men ble av en eller annen grunn bare valgt som visekaptein. Dermed er det helt naturlig at Rio nå skal lede England i VM i Sør-Afrika.

Andy Cole sier dette i sammenheng med diskusjonen om hvorvidt John Terry skal miste kapteinsbindet.
